Cave was recorded in a house on the Belarine Peninsula. In bathrooms. We set ourselves up in a separate bathroom each throughout the house. The aim was for each of us to be in spaces with similar qualities, but for our recorded voices to have subtle differences. It also provided us with an isolated sound, unlike on the farm or the stairwell, which meant we could get a bit arty in the mixing process.
I discovered this trio via one of its members' side project called Oliver White; and I felt in love with the singer's voice instantly. Along with the right amount of minimalism and complexity, the album is beautiful and heartfelt. j
