Armed with our battery powered mixing desk, we recorded Licy in a World War II bunker on the top of a cliff in Point Lonsdale. This was a special moment for us, not least because we have the most spectacular views over the ocean.
No time for diva moments when you’re using batteries so there’s a real spontaneity to this track. We found that the bunker had such a contrastng sound to some other spaces as it added a very dry and close quality to our voices.
I discovered this trio via one of its members' side project called Oliver White; and I felt in love with the singer's voice instantly. Along with the right amount of minimalism and complexity, the album is beautiful and heartfelt. j
