It’s safe to say with a concept like this, you’re bound to have some difficulties. We wanted to record Say in an indoor swimming pool, but our first attempt was dominated by a big fat, noisy fan, and also resulted in one wet, ruined microphone. But never fear! We ended up poolside in a mansion in Warrendyte (Aluka has a friend who has a friend).
Voices bouncing off water and concrete gave us a really alice reflective sound. As it was a freezing winters dat and the house was currently unoccupied by resident-millionares, we deemed the pool too cold to jump into. Princesses, the lot of us.
I discovered this trio via one of its members' side project called Oliver White; and I felt in love with the singer's voice instantly. Along with the right amount of minimalism and complexity, the album is beautiful and heartfelt. j
